I wanted another bath mat for our bathrooms. I only have one for each bathroom, so when that one is being washed then everyone getting out of the shower drips everywhere … and well, you don’t need me to paint a picture. I wanted another bath mat.
However, before heading to the store I brainstormed a little, trying to think if there was something in my home I could repurpose into a bath mat. Then I remembered this post from Netta and I got an idea. I have a few bath towels that are getting ratty on the ends but still plenty fluffy in the middle.
I took one of my bath mats and laid that over top of a folded-in-half towel for size and cut through both towel layers. Then I stitched both layers together with a simple checkerboard pattern and then around the edges. It didn’t take any time at all. It’s not very perfect looking but that’s ok, life isn’t perfect looking either now is it?

Why I do what I do ~ It is very difficult for me to get a looking-at-the-camera-and-smiling picture of my daughter. She just won’t pose, either that or she poses for 1 second and I miss it. Today, I caught her and my niece using a play camera and wouldn’t you know … Chloe was smiling and posing over and over for her cousin taking the pretend pictures. I’m giving her the real camera next time.

What a great idea with the new bathmat – have to keep that in mind.
What really cracked me up was your daughter posing for the fake camera. I have the same problem trying to get a ‘nice’ natural-looking smile from my daughter when I have the camera. Maybe I need to find a much younger photographer!

Great idea, Nicki. I so wish I could sew.
Great idea! I really need to think more along those lines, and am starting to.
That is cute about your daughter, smiling for the fake camera!
Great idea! I have some old towels that would be perfect this, however, sewing is not my strong point. Maybe I can sweet talk my mom into sewing it though.
