This is an excellent and much needed post! We made the switch to a one income family and while it is difficult at times, it has definitely been worth it! We call our new budget the By Faith Budget, because that is exactly what it is. And you know, we are always provided for!

I totally agree, Nicki!

I moved from an incredibly demanding, high-paying job where I spent all my free time sleeping and relating all that was happening at work to my long-suffering husband. I was so stressed!

Staying at home has been a no-brainer for me. I think intelligent women make the best mamas, and for some of us that means we step out of the workforce and keep our intelligence at home for the benefit of our spouse / children / households rather than corporations / governments.

I thought you stated it very well, Nicki, that this choice is NOT for every mama out there. But if a secret place in your heart longs to be at home with your children, make it happen! It is possible, and you won’t regret it!

I’ve been reading for a while, but this is my first time commenting. I work part time at a church (25-30/week). It might as well be full time.

We’re also about to be debt free besides our mortgage.

I’ve been thinking so hard about this – and your post is encouraging and is helping me process my thoughts.

Such a good post! I’ve been a Mom for nearly 17 years and have “stayed-at-home” for that amount of time, too. It’s crazy how money seems to keep on stretching when your heart & priorities are on what is lasting!
