Using domestic arts to live a simple, frugal life

I had two Easter sewing projects that I’ve been working on. The first was the bunny, which I’ve already finished. The second was the dress, which I was far more nervous about. I did finally finish though. It didn’t come without it’s setbacks and screw-ups, but at least it’s complete. Too bad the Easter dress had to be the trial run for the pattern. I really should have thought it through a little better and made the try-out dress before the Easter dress. That’s ok though. You can’t see my mistakes from afar, can you?

Here she is modeling it for me :)

It’s perfect for twirling.

When I asked her what she thought of it she said it was beautiful. That’s all I need.

Why I do what I do ~ I have to take advantage of  these years while she still wants to wear the clothes I sew for her. I know there’s a day coming when she won’t want the “homemade” dress. For now though … she makes my sewing look pretty darn cute.

I enjoy your blog but hadn’t commented before. You did such a gorgeous job on this dress, and it looks perfect on your little one – ESPECIALLY twirling.

My daughter is into twirling skirts, and I wish I was talented enough to make something like this.

My mother made a lot of clothes for my sister and I – not all of them were favorites, but some were absolutely inspired. Well done giving your girl such a special Easter gift!

I think it looks great Nicki. She looks absolutely beautiful and totally happy. Isn’t that a great feeling.

You actually inspired me to make one for my daughter.Unfortunately I lack a little on it though.

I had a little delay – I screwed mine up a little too. Thank goodness it was fixable.

Thanks for the inspiration! :)

The dress is beautiful. The kiddo is adorable. Put them together and it’s beyond words. The twirling picture is great. What a lucky girl to have such a talented mama.
