Have you ever found that even on days when you remain driven you’re still unable to accomplish everything that needs to be done? You feel great that you were able to complete so many tasks but find yourself wondering what kind of superhero actually gets everything done.
Perhaps you feel like a failure for your inability to keep up; placing the blame for incomplete tasks on your own ineptness. Has it occured to us that we just may have too much to do? Over-scheduling is the thief of accomplished productivity. Regardless of how planned-out your day is, you can’t do it all if there is just too much to do. In light of this topic and my busy day I’m going to keep it short. Three things to remember:
Lay Down The Cape. Contrary to popular belief, you are not a superhero. Give yourself some slack.
Get A Shorter List. Too much on your list? Rather than trying to accomplish all of it, take some of it off your list and simplify a little. Do you really need embellished cupcakes, a 5-course meal and a straightened bedspread? Give something up.
Get Rid Of The Blame. Blame breaks up marriages, friendships and families every day. Give yourself some credit for the places where you excel and leave it at that.
Celebrate Something. Life isn’t all about to-do lists, agendas and schedules.
How do you get everything done? What have you laid aside to simplify your time?
Why I do what I do ~ Laying in bed with my daughter tonight reading princess books, I smiled … and suddenly … everything seemed right again. Chaotic day forgotten; love wins.

It’s so good to hear that I am not the only one who can’t seem to get to the end of my to-do list. Sometimes, I just have to pick out the most important things and let the other things go. I guess the best thing that I do is get outside help. For example, if I am totally swamped, my husband will help out with some of the things that I don’t have to do myself, like cooking or laundry. Besides that, I just kind of accept that I can’t do everything!

I like the suggestion to Celebrate Something. I think it’s so easy to get caught up in the daily grind that we forget what’s great about our lives, our families, and our children.

I like the idea of a to do list that gives me options so mine tends to be long. However I have also learned that if I prioritize 3 things (thanks to SimpleMom) I feel accomplished even if that is all I get done. I also like SimpleMom’s idea of getting the worst thing done first. It really does make the rest look like a cinch.

The last thing on my to do list is die. I thrive on not finishing my tasks and always adding to the list.

I’m with you: I don’t. And you know what? The world has never spun off its axis as a result.
I love your idea to celebrate–enjoying day to day life is more important than checking items off a list.
