Maybe a serenade is a good idea. That way, if it’s horrible, they’ll never have to hear or see it again.

As a self-professed writer and poet, I always felt a little strange about giving my creative writing as a gift -- except to Mr. Savvy, that is. I feel like anyone else would think I'm being cocky about it, as though I'm saying, "here! I'm so amazing that I don't buy you a gift, I WROTE you one instead, and now you need to fawn over it." Is that my own personal bias, or do other people feel that way? I guess the only time I'd think it acceptable to give my writing to someone other than my S.O. is if my writing was published, and the other person expressed interest in buying the book/anthology/whatever.
